CULTURE
I believe that each child should be surrounded by an atmosphere of hope rather than fear. Each child should be surrounded by adventure and not sameness.  I base my philosophy on the following quote:

“Culturize: To cultivate a community of learners by behaving in a kind, caring, honest, and compassionate manner in order to challenge and inspire each member of the school community to become more than they ever thought possible.”
― Jimmy Casas, Culturize: Every Student. Every Day. Whatever It Takes.

INSTRUCTION
All humans are hardwired to connect. Just as we need food, shelter, and clothing, human beings also need strong and meaningful relationships to thrive.   Students must engage in the exploration and learning of the skills they will need for jobs that do not exist today!  I have always been driven by my curiosity to learn more, and I want that for our students!

DISCIPLINE
I believe the consequence should fit the action. Whether in the classroom or in the assistant principal's office, I see a student with a discipline situation as a learning situation. I focus on strengthening relationships between individuals as well as social connections within communities.  Conversations about what happened and how it could be handled differently are of critical importance to me. I take the time to discuss triggers and thought processes that can help students arrive in a positive place in moments of chaos.
